Shiur #3: Moshe's View from the Mountain
Intro to Sefer Devarim - Is it really a review of Chumash?

The First Parshiot of Kriyat Shma
The first two parshiot of "kriyat shma" surround us each and every day of our lives. Not only do we recite them at least twice daily, but they are also written on every doorpost (i.e. on every "mezuzah"), and in the boxes of our "tfilin." What makes them so special? This week's shiur, which analyzes the overall structure of the main speech of Sefer Devarim, we help us better appreciate why specifically these two parshiot are so important. Online:

Moshe's View from the Mountain
Why is Moshe Rabeinu so eager to see Lebanon?
And why does God show him a view of Saudia Arabia?
And why do Chazal interpret all of this as Jerusalem?!
In this week's 'mini shiur', we'll attempt to answer these questions as we uncover the very first virtual Jerusalem!

Is Sefer Devarim Really a Review of Chumash?
What is Sefer Devarim?
Most everyone would answer that it is a review or repeat of Chumash, just as its 'second name' - "Mishneh Torah" - implies.
Is this really so?
As we will see in this week's shiur, the answer to this question is quite shocking, quite simple, and very fundamental towards understanding all of Chumash.
